Two twenty-year-old childhood friends (Jake Gyllenhaal, Jared Leto) come to terms with life, death and what it means to be an outsider. In 1994, they decide to leave Las Vegas. They embark on a road trip which quickly becomes a strange and twisted odyssey of the unexpected, the unloved, and the unforgettable. As they arrive to Seattle, they find themselves amidst the thousands of mourning people gathering after the death of Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain.
