As Mounir (Georges Khabbaz) travels to a secluded island, wrestling with thoughts of doing something unthinkable, a strange story his mother once told him starts to weigh on his mind. In the peaceful solitude of his island retreat, he crosses paths with the intriguing Valeska (Hanna Schygulla) and her loyal but rough-around-the-edges son, Karl (Tom Wlaschiha). Though they don't talk much, small gestures of kindness chip away at their wariness, easing Mounir's heavy heart and sparking a renewed will to live.
