Time After Time

Upon being identified as Jack the Ripper, Dr. John Stevenson (David Warner) uses H.G. Wells' new time machine to elude capture. Wells (Malcolm McDowell) boldly follows his nefarious associate to the year 1979 and San Francisco, where he encounters all manner of 20th century oddities---and romance with a bank employee (Mary Steenburgen). Director Nicholas Meyer's ingenious fish-out-of-water yarn is utterly charming, frequently suspenseful and deserves to be much better known.
