The Rose Tattoo

Tennessee Williams, plays a Gulf Coast seamstress who is over-protective of her teenage daughter (Oscar-nominated Marisa Pavan) and delusional about the virtues of her late, excessively lamented husband. She is roused from her doldrums by the attentions of a hunky but clownish truck-driver (Lancaster), who inspires her with both disdain and desire (and who comes off as a sly parody of Stanley Kowalski).
