    On the way home after a trip to Paris where she has been having a love affair, Jeanne Tournier accepts a lift from a complete stranger, the young archaeologist Bernard. In gratitude, Jeanne's husband invites Bernard to stay the night at his large country residence. During the night, Jeanne and Bernard walk the grounds and discover that they are in love.
