In the bustling city of New York, two savvy entrepreneurs, Dante (Andre Gregory) and Cecil (Buck Henry), proudly own a thriving restaurant. Within their eclectic team of employees, there's Monte (David Bowie), a British bartender whose penchant for dishonesty stems from his desire to secure a Visa by marrying one of the waitresses. Among these waitresses is Lucy (Rosanna Arquette), a talented but timid aspiring magician who harbors a fear of performing in public. Her closest confidante is Vivian, also known as 'Viv' (Eszter Balint), who not only shares an apartment with her but has designed a rather unique brassiere.
