This rarely-seen gem tells the riveting story of popular 1920s nightclub performer Joe E. Lewis is rarely seen and hardly remembered. It provides Sinatra with a part he could really tear into. Lewis' brush with the Mafia over a singing contract leaves hime severly disables, and Sinatra sensitively portrays his slow recovery. The song 'All the Way" was written for the movie and Sintra sings is magnificently. His full throttle rendition surely contributed to the song's Oscar win.
