The Glass Key

A gritty narrative unfolds around political corruption and personal entanglements. Paul Madvig (Brian Donlevy), a crooked political boss, decides to abandon his shady past and back a reform candidate for governor, partly due to his affection for the candidate's daughter, Janet (Lake). This shift in allegiance angers the criminal underworld, leading to a vicious retaliation where Madvig is framed for murder. As tensions rise, Madvig's loyal enforcer and problem-solver, Ed Beaumont (Alan Ladd), steps in to navigate the dangerous web of deceit and violence, determined to clear his boss's name amidst a backdrop of romance and betrayal.
