Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison star in one of the great love stories in all film lore. It builds logically, the way a love affair should -- and without mush. The setting is a remote seaside cottage to which Tierney retreats after the death of her husband. She is warned that it is haunted. Harrison is a salty sea captain with a rowdy past. She is demure and has never experienced the passionate side of life. The world is puzzled when she writes best-selling raucous novels about pirates and boozing. Of course he's dictating them to her but he can't collect royalties for a good reason: He is dead.
