The Friend

Iris (Naomi Watts), a novelist and creative writing teacher, lives a quiet, solitary life in New York. Her world is turned upside down when her closest friend and mentor (Bill Murray) commits suicide and leaves her his cherished Great Dane, Apollo. The large and unruly dog causes immediate chaos, from destroying furniture to getting Iris eviction notices. Apollo's presence also serves as a constant reminder of her friend's tragic decision. However, as Iris starts to bond with Apollo, she begins to confront her past, cope with the loss of her friend, and rediscover her own creative spirit.
