Tears for April: Beyond the Blue Lens, set in Vancouver's drug-infested Downtown Eastside, follows the short, tragic life of April Reoch, a young woman who left her coastal hometown of Squamish, British Columbia, for the big city of Vancouver, only to lose her life in its most squalid neighbourhood. The beautiful young part-Native woman, the mother of a young son Daniel, died a victim of drug addiction and violence.
