Taking place in the hallucinatory "Feline Universe", the unique and nearly indescribable Tamala 2010 pits a cute, foul-mouthed, chain-smoking 1950's style kitten against ugly corporate culture. If Philip K. Dick had been hired to write a Hello Kitty feature.... With the black, white and red colour scheme of a photocopied fanzine, cryptic classical references and a deeply perverse cuteness, this whacked-out anime comes fresh from Japan, where it has been building an active underground following. It is a weird, beautiful, head-twisting piece of work. Winner of Best Animation at FanTasia 2003.
