In 1975, Sara Jane Moore, at age 45, attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford on a crowded sidewalk in downtown San Francisco. This intriguing documentary, directed by filmmaker Robinson Devor (Zoo), gives Moore, who is now out of prison after serving a 30-year sentence and remains as defiant as ever, the chance to share her story. Moore insisted that the film include no other interviewees, and Devor embraces this subjective viewpoint to craft an unconventional portrait where distinguishing fact from fiction becomes challenging. Her story spans her involvement in the Patty Hearst kidnapping, her alleged role as an FBI informant, and the failed assassination attempt, offering a unique cultural history of San Francisco's radical politics during the 1960s and '70s. Devor enhances the film's atmosphere with the tension and suspense of a thriller, conducting interviews in vivid locations and drawing us into the complex world that Moore inhabits.
