Set in the heart of Iowa, the story centers on the Frake family, a farming household, as they attend the Iowa State Fair with high hopes of showcasing their father's prized hog, Blue Boy. The annual event becomes a backdrop for unexpected turns in their lives, beginning on the very first day when both the disillusioned daughter Margy and her brother Wayne stumble into new romantic entanglements. Meanwhile, Blue Boy also finds a connection of his own. As the fair unfolds over the days, these budding relationships deepen, weaving together moments of joy and discovery, underscored by Rodgers and Hammerstein's original score crafted specifically for the screen, featuring the Academy Award®-winning songs *It Might as Well be Spring* and *It's A Grand Night for Singing*.
