In the mid-1990's, Malik and Aaron move to a small city with Aaron's teenage daughter in an attempt to find a better quality of life and raise the teen with stronger social values. The seemingly friendly welcome they receive from neighbors begins to become unsettling, as the couple faces finding homophobic slurs painted in their new home and offhanded comments with threatening undertones. Malik, suffering from PTSD following a brutal attack on his partner a decade ago, begins to wonder if he is imagining things or if the strange dances and ritualistic chanting he is hearing is a sign of something more foreboding.
