Don Ameche is a Hollywood director whose career is on the rocks and whose dream project -- a lavish musical called Ten Days in Paris -- is about to be shelved unless he can come up with a singing, dancing, French female lead. Unable to find the real thing, he does a Pygmalion job on a coarse carnival showgirl (Dorothy Lamour, having a blast with the role), transforming her into a très chic Gallic starlet.
