Skirt Day

Sonia Bergerac is a French teacher in a difficult suburban school. She struggles with the daily hardships of her relationships with her students, and is further weakened by her husband's departure. During a theater rehearsal with one of her classes, she discovers a gun in a student's bag. In an attempt to take control of the situation, a shot is fired and a student is injured in the leg. In the confusion of the moment, Sonia breaks down and takes her class hostage. While outside, educational, police, and political authorities struggle to understand and respond to the situation, Sonia imposes her vision and their contradictions on her students.
