In this stirring, unsung blend of romance and medical drama, Dr. Paul Venner (James Stephenson), a brilliant psychiatrist, escapes from Budapest to Scotland, where he continues his research into dementia praecox while working in a sanitarium alongside a new assistant, Dr. Mary Murray (Geraldine Fitzgerald). United by their work, the pair begin a passionate love affair that changes both of their lives. Look out for Bette Davis, at the height of her stardom, in a small cameo as a nurse.
