Esperanza is a grieving widow who loses her daughter Blanca to a rare virus. After a vision of St. Jude convinces her that Blanca is still alive, Esperanza embarks on a determined quest to find her. Despite skepticism from her roommate and others, she believes her daughter was kidnapped and sold into a brothel in Tijuana. Her journey takes her across Mexico, where she faces various challenges, including being robbed. In Tijuana, she uncovers disturbing truths but fails to find Blanca. Her search leads her to Los Angeles, where she falls in love with a masked wrestler. Ultimately, guided by a vision of the Virgin Mary, Esperanza decides to return home.
