The Verneuil family comes from the great, provincial, catholic bourgeoisie with a penchant for Old France. Over the years, it has reluctantly welcomed a Muslim, a Jew and a Chinese son-in-law into the family. The parents have since seen their vision of a traditional French family disintegrate.
