In the barrio of San Antonio, Texas, a young Chicano (director Gutiérrez, who also produced and distributed the film) navigates the harsh realities of racism and poverty while confronting the profound impacts of the Vietnam War on his close-knit community. Amid the rising tide of the Chicano Movement in the spring of 1972, he faces personal dilemmas that test his resilience and cultural identity, capturing a vivid slice of Mexican-American life in 1970s South Texas.
