Info
That winter in Montréal, there is a girl. Three captains are wooing her. Cinema killed Jean-Baptiste Lamirande, the disastrous Liberator, who comes back to life just before Christmas. Héloïse, an amnesiac actress who lost her watch, has been reported missing. Lamirande is determined to bring her back to her mother. It's all part of an incredible plot whose characters gravitate to the bar at an inn called La voie lactée, where they hang out and have poetic conversations. This philosophical fantasy, steeped in modernity, multiplies voices and accents, dreams and destinies, existences faced with eternity. Filmed with modest means, Nouvelles, Nouvelles is free in its form, writing and sense of time; its minimalist direction gets out of the way of the eloquent, meaningful dialogue. In this journey to the land of words, we do not only meet honest, dependable people, but the hero will succeed in putting everything back in order before returning to the kingdom from which he had been cast out. And midnight mass will happen as it does every year.
