NO DIRECTION HOME: BOB DYLAN -- a masterful portrait of the singer/songwriter's life from 1961 to 1966 -- focusing on his journey from his hometown of Hibbing, Minnesota through his emergence in the folk music scene of Greenwich Village, to his controversial decision to "go electric" and his rise to the pinnacle of worldwide fame. Featuring interviews with artists and musicians whose lives intertwined with Dylan's during this period -- including Dave van Ronk, Allen Ginsberg, Suze Rotolo, Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, Maria Muldaur, Liam Clancy -- and a deeply reflective interview with Dylan himself shot exclusively for this film. Filled with dynamic performance footage -- including songs from the 1963/1964/1965 Newport Folk Festivals (shot by Murray Lerner) -- and rare, previously unreleased footage, like excerpts from D.A. Pennebaker's unreleased EAT THE DOCUMENT, illustrating Dylan's tumultuous 1966 tour of the UK with The Hawks (aka The Band).
