In Japan during the Osaka Expo of 1970, a Canadian actress's life is turned upside down by political upheaval and a series of emotional traumas and absurdities during a 24-hour period. While she stars in a shoddy production of a farcical Feydeau play in which her character mixes with pseudo-cultural revolutionaries, her real-life escapades begin to resemble her performance -- resulting in a bedroom farce unfolding in a hotel room that resembles the tacky set of the Feydeau play.
