Movie
Hidden in the shadow of the Chippendales, male exotic dancing flourished in South Central Los Angeles from the late '80s to the early 2000s. Clubs like The Right Track, Tigers, and The Boom Boom Room were packed every night of the week, and their dancers turned into local icons. In "Name of the Game," we dive into the lives of various dancers -- some from back in the day, others still in the game -- along with the women who stand by them, whether as fans or managers. The film uncovers the little-known history of Black male exotic dancing in Southern California and how it ties into the roots of hip-hop, gang life, and even kung-fu assassins. Through raw interviews and electrifying performances, we get an unfiltered, no-holds-barred look at the male exotic dance scene like never before.
