Inspired by Samuel Beckett's work, with its ten clay- coated performers, May B captures a humanity of the poor, the elderly, the exiled, whose deformed bodies are the antithesis of all the classical and idealized representations of the dancing body. Humanity at its most fragile and moving, continuing its endless journey, persisting against all odds in the midst of an imminent end of the world. 'Finished, it's finished, nearly finished, it must be nearly finished' are the words that open and close the show - but May B does not seem to be about to end: forty years and eight hundred performances later, still the same, still different, the play continues to make its dusty beings live, to make this ragged humanity come and go, which, it seems, will never end.
