The Bayeux Tapestry, still preserved in Normandy, is part of UNESCO's World Heritage. It is an immense tapestry, or more precisely, an embroidery nearly 70 meters long, depicting the invasion of the Kingdom of England in 1066 by William, Duke of Normandy. The conquest of the English throne by William the Conqueror is an essential date for English historians. It is the last time the Kingdom will be invaded. After subduing the country, and in less than 20 years, the Norman nobles will replace over 80% of the Anglo-Saxon leaders of Viking descent in positions of power. Furthermore, for three centuries, the Anglo-Norman nobility does not understand the language spoken by its subjects. The Bayeux Tapestry, still preserved in Normandy, is part of UNESCO's World Heritage.
