Le ventre de Bassima

Bassima and Fouad, a couple of illegal Syrian immigrants, are living in Montreal with unstable jobs and foreign cigarette smuggling. They love each other and are determined to integrate into society successfully. However, when Fouad gets arrested and deported back to their war-torn homeland, Bassima ends up homeless. Completely out of resources but resolute to bring her husband back using a fake passport, she secretly agrees to become a surrogate mother for a wealthy couple. But when an unexpected event shakes up her plans, Bassima, who has always relied on herself to get through hardships, realizes she must find allies to save her life and that of her unborn child.
