Info
Based on a true story, this film chronicles the investigation into the deaths of a pair of Montagnais Indian fishermen who may have been shot by white game wardens who found them illegally fishing for salmon. The story is set in 1984 along the northeastern coast of Quebec and begins on the Maliotenam reserve when Salomon Ispatau's bloated corpse washes ashore, pierced with what looks like bullet holes. Roxane Lalo is most upset, for her brother Ulysse had gone out fishing around the same time as Salomon. At the time Salomon's body is discovered, a French marine biologist, Jean-Pierre Lafond, is there studying local whale migrations. He has become friend with Roxane and with her he will try to solve the mistery of her missing brother. The white population and the police are more than reluctant to help them find the truth.
