Once upon a time, in a large forest, there lived a poor woodcutter and his poor wife. The cold, hunger, misery, and the constant war around them made life very difficult. One day, the poor woman found a baby. A baby thrown from one of the many trains that passed endlessly through their forest.

Protected at all costs, this baby, this little "commodity," would change the life of this woman, her husband, and everyone who would cross its path -- up to the man who threw it from the train.

Their story would reveal both the worst and the best in the hearts of men.
