Autumn 1970. Bernard Lortie is hiding out in a Montreal apartment with Francis Simard, and Paul and Jacques Rose. The police are hot on their heels and the October Crisis is in full swing. Rewind to the summer of 1969: The son of a Gaspé fisher, nineteen-year-old Bernard has come to Percé looking for a job. He meets militant separatists Paul, Jacques, and Francis, who have gone there to open a restaurant, La Maison du pêcheur, where they can welcome and politicize the youth. Hippies from all over Quebec flock to La Maison du pêcheur, which upsets the local town council and numerous merchants. Councillor André Duguay, who owns a campground is especially vindictive and sees to it that the group's application for a restaurant license is refused. But the group decides to go ahead regardless...
