Benita, a woman from Montreal, is searching for answers about her heritage. Her ancestors were taken from Africa to Haiti. As a mother, Benita wants to be able to share this history with her children. So, she travels to Africa to find her roots. Her adventure starts at the Museum of Black Civilizations in Dakar, Senegal, where she aims to learn about life in Africa before the slave trade. She connects with experts who have studied pre-slavery Africa to piece together this history. Together, they delve into the past, seeking spiritual, architectural, and historical evidence of the continent's golden era.
