Norman (Norman Wisdom) works in a jewellers. Across the road works Anne, a pretty girl with whom he is secretly in love. He is anxiously trying to obtain enough money to declare his love properly, and when their secretary suggests placing an accumulator bet, Norman decides to wager on a jockey.
