In 1931 Paris, Anaïs Nin embarks on a journey of sexual misconduct after meeting American writer Henry Miller and his wife June. As she explores her desires with her husband Hugo and others, including Henry, June travels between Paris and New York seeking acting opportunities. Meanwhile, Henry works on his groundbreaking novel, "Tropic of Cancer," which Anaïs and Hugo help finance. Tensions arise as June disapproves of her portrayal in the book, and Anaïs and Henry clash over their differing writing styles amidst the bohemian atmosphere of Paris.
