The great Philip Baker Hall plays Sydney, an aging professional gambler who takes the forlorn John (Reilly) under his wing. Two years pass and John has become Sydney's protégé, started a relationship with Clementine (Paltrow), and developed a friendship with Jimmy (Jackson) -- who knows a dangerous secret about Sydney's past.
