TWO GREAT, VERY SIGNIFICANT HOLLYWOOD STARS

ONE DISASTROUS MOVIE OF THEIR FABLED FEW YEARS TOGETHER

A MEDIOCRE, BRASH, IMPUDENT SOAP OPERA-HISTORICAL FILM

A MOVIE TAKING A FAN-MAGAZINE APPROACH TO FILMMAKING: A TOTALLY EMPTY SHELL

Quite the disastrous bio-pic that attempts to tell the fabled life meeting of Clark Gable and his fourth wife, the vivacious, delicious comedienne and sometimes dramatic actress, Carole Lombard who died in a plane crash in her 30's while touring America selling war bonds during WW II. The script is mediocre as it can get with poor direction and a lacklustre James Brolin trying so hard to convince as Clark Gable and falling flat on his face. As much as I like Jill Clayburgh, she doesn't fare much better, totally miscast as the bright light that was Lombard. It's a wildly innacurate, insulting story from Hollywood that does 0% justice to this husband and wife dynamic duo. If the filmmakers were trying to prove how dull a life of glamour can be, well, they got it right.

pietroantoni: How could the filmmakers miss with this storied love-aafair and marriage?!

Knowing of this Gable-Lombard love affair and marriage, a truly romantic life tale from the latter 30's to 1942 led me to check out this film. It's sadly trite, bad stuff all-round, a bio-pic that makes a life in films, the bright lights, the premieres, the great parties... and one of the great Hollywood romances seem perfectly dull. Thankfully, this bio-oic has been mercifully laid to rest and forgotten!

Frankly, You Won't Give A Damn!!!
