In the late 1990s, Cassandra Turner becomes the first female head coach of a men's team in NCAA Division 1 Athletics when she takes the reins of Tennessee A&M's men's golf team. While facing opposition from all sides including her university's administration, the PGA, opposing teams, and the players themselves, she is not only able to break the gender barrier at her position, but to recruit white golfers to play for a historically black college, breaking racial barriers as well.
