Info
On a dark night, on a highway just outside the little prairie town of Laxdale...
A FLAMING BIRD bashes the windshield of a passing car...
A FLASH OF LIGHT cracks the sky over a nearby wheat field...
BLOOD-CURDLING SCREAMS explode from the old hockey arena.
The next morning, a local farmer discovers mysterious crop circles on his north-forty. Within days, Petrocon, a foreign oil company, buys the town grain elevator, putting former NHL'er BILL SWANSON out of work.
Coincidence? Perhaps.
For Bill, it's par for the course. His pro hockey career ended when he took a puck to the head-- maybe that's why he's ignored by his fellow townspeople when he speaks out against the Petrocon "foreign investors" and their General Manager, VEIRGACHT.
Bill then finds ARNIE, his old minor hockey coach, barricaded inside a house full of humming air conditioners-- of all things dying of hypothermia in the hottest summer on record. Before Arnie freezes to death, he claims that without the protection of the cold, "they" would get him. Unfortunately, Arnie never gets the chance to say "who."
Another Coincidence? Maybe.
Bill believes something is very wrong. The problem is that everyone thinks he's as loopy as his old coach. Fortunately, Bill finds an ally in GINA LARSON, a local barmaid who seems to have a secret agenda (she was once "abducted" and she wants payback). She teams up with Bill to find the proof they need to convince the others they aren't crazy.
Things soon get even hotter when local motorheads RANDY and DWAYNE spontaneously combust while tearing down the highway in their souped-up beater. It's up to Bill and Gina to find out who and what are keeping things sizzling in Laxdale.
They discover that Petrocon is an "off-world" time-share company bent on turning the earth into a Club Med for extra-terrestrials! Humans are to be enslaved and turned into cabana boys and chambermaids. With things heating up and time running out, Bill and Gina must keep their cool in order to save Laxdale and the world from alien domination.
Bill and Gina ultimately discover the aliens' Achilles' heel-- extreme cold. They race to the supermarket and load up on frozen food, then confront Viergacht and the aliens. In a chilling climactic sequence, a humongous food fight erupts... with the very fate of the planet hanging in the balance.
