Elmer (Buster Keaton) decides it is his mission in life to escort Elvira (Anita Page) and her mother (Trixie Fraganza) to Hollywood. Once there, he also feels it is his duty to defend Elvira from the overtures of Latin-lover film star Larry (Robert Montgomery). But nothing turns out to be what it seems: Larry is really a stand-up guy from Kansas, and the fickle finger of fate brings fame to an unexpected duo.
