Glenn Ford as a stalwart G-man out to thwart a psychopathic extortionist's plans to force bank clerk Lee Remick to rob her place of employment. San Francisco locations (including the Bay Bridge, Clarendon Heights and Candlestick Park) have rarely looked better or more ominous, and Henry Mancini's score is unnerving to the end.
