Down to Earth

Columbia's musical sequel to Here Comes Mr. Jordan (and the inspiration for the 1980 Xanadu) stars Rita Hayworth as the goddess Terpsichore, descending on Broadway when she hears she is being lampooned in a new play. Bedecked by Jean Louis in a celestial Greek toga, Hayworth becomes Cole's Ruth St. Denis surrogate in one of Hollywood's rare forays into modern dance. Her partner is the Ballets Russes and Broadway star Marc Platt (Oklahoma!), a Cole regular.
