The film interweaves a modern-day search for self with a haunting love story about a rebellious outcast (Kirsten Dunst) and the son of a British Admiral (Trent Ford). An embittered old woman (Lynn Redgrave) recounts the story of a book she has written to a grieving violinist (Julia Brendler), whose mother (Alberta Watson) has brought her to the fishing village she grew up in to recover from the death of her boyfriend. DEEPLY's narrative combines sea legends and curses with insight.
