Dead Ringer is a part fiction, part documentary film made to promote the 1981 album by Meat Loaf to follow up the critically acclaimed and highly successful 1977 release Bat Out of Hell. Directed by Allan Nichols, with appearances by Cher and Josh Mostel among others, the film follows Meat Loaf under pressure from his recent successes and launching a new tour and album. Meanwhile, an identical twin to the rock star, a man named Marvin who loves to sing Meat Loaf's songs, is on his own journey.
