Babou (Isabelle Huppert) is a free spirit -- or so she likes to think. For years she has wandered aimlessly through life: travelling the world; wearing outrageous clothing; and avoiding work as much as possible. This has put a strain on her relationship with her daughter though since she believes Esmeralda is becoming bourgeoisie and Esmeralda thinks it is time for her mother to settle down.
