Cousins Robert Lester and Braxton Mitchell embark on a 1,300-mile canoe expedition from the Continental Divide near Butte, Montana, to the Pacific Ocean. Braxton, at 18, takes on this adventure despite having no prior canoeing experience. Robert, just a few years older, leads the journey as they face the unexpected challenges of such a demanding trip. Together, they navigate the river, confronting obstacles such as dams, rapids, and wind, while Braxton gains valuable life experiences and a deeper understanding of his abilities. Alongside this personal journey, the film addresses the ecological issues affecting the Columbia River Watershed and underscores the importance of environmental stewardship.
