Fall, 2019. A few months before the arrival of COVID-19, Danic Champoux enters the Émilie-Gamelin long-term care facility in Montreal's Centre-Sud district, armed with a camera. Melting into the background, the filmmaker observes everything around him, capturing the residents' ups and downs, the repetitive tasks of the attendants and the unpredictable situations they deal with every day. The filmmaker never crosses the line into wretchedness, however; quite the contrary, thanks to his calm, cinematographic approach, with an eye that is fixed, patient and empathetic, the director draws a sensitive, funny and lively picture of this sadly neglected environment.
