Native American Union Intelligence officer Capt. Apache (Lee Van Cleef) has his work cut out for him investigating the murder of Commissioner Ezekiel Collier. Not only are the clues sparse to begin with, but every time Apache has a lead to follow, his suspects inevitably turn up dead before he can ask any questions. With the help of his friend and mistress, Maude (Carroll Baker), however, Apache learns that the conspiracy goes deeper than anyone could have imagined.
