A dissolute playboy meets his match in a strong-willed Barbara Stanwyck in this lighthearted screwball romance. During a drunken night out, wealthy, irresponsible steamship line owner Jonathan Blair (Herbert Marshall) is escorted home by Texan heiress Valentine Ransome (Stanwyck) -- and it's not long before she is taking charge of his life in a quest to set him straight and make a respectable businessman out of him. Only one obstacle stands in her way: Blair's gold-digging fiancée (Glenda Farrell).
