Bread and Roses

Maya, a resourceful young woman, crosses the Mexican border and settles with her sister Rosa in LA. Rosa gets Maya a janitorial job in a non-union service where the supervisor holds unchecked power to fire at will. Meanwhile, Sam Shapiro, from the workers' union, aims to rally support for their "justice for janitors" cause. Maya connects with Sam's mission, despite Rosa's reservations due to her husband's illness. As the workers seek public backing, management resorts to divisive tactics. Tensions mount as Rosa, Maya, workers, and management edge towards confrontation.
