Info
Over three generations, the lives of families in Russia, France, Germany, and the United States, all bound by music and dance, are deeply impacted by World War II. In Russia, Bolshoi ballerina Tatiana Itovitch loses her husband Boris on the Russian front and raises their son Sergei, who becomes a dancer, escapes the Soviet Union, and fathers a daughter, Tania, a ballerina. In France, Jewish violinist Anne Meyer and her husband Simon are sent to a concentration camp; their baby son, abandoned during the journey, is raised by a priest and grows up to become lawyer Robert Prat, fathering a singer. Meanwhile, singer Evelyne, accused of collaborating with the enemy, relocates to Dijon and has a daughter, Edith. In Germany, pianist Karl Kremer leaves his family to fight in the war, and in the United States, singer Jack Glenn leaves to entertain troops, while his children, Jason and Sara Glenn, rise in show business.
